What you get: M4A (AAC), cut from the video
The sound is cut out of the pin's MP4 on your own device: the AAC samples are copied byte for byte into an .m4a file, with no re-encoding. In our tests a 9.5-second clip gave an 80 KB M4A and a 13-second clip 109 KB. If a video has no sound track, the tool says so instead of giving you a silent file.

Good to know on Linux
Folder names depend on your distribution and language settings; Chrome's own default is /home/<username>/Downloads.
If the download does not show up on Linux
- Check ~/Downloads first: In Chrome, choose More › Downloads; clicking a finished download opens it in the system's default app for that file type.
- Make sure the pin is public. Private pins and secret boards cannot be read without logging in, and this tool never asks for your Pinterest password.
- Links expire after one hour. If a button stops working, paste the pin link again.
- A pin.it short link must be complete: copy it again from Share › Copy link.
